“Walk Alone” - Autumn Tragedy (Music Video)

Synopsis

“Walk Alone” was my first professional project of any sort, by which I mean hiring professional crew and trying to make a serious project rather than various shorts from high school, college, and film school. The first attempt at the video, an entire shoot day in Yucca Valley, we hired an amateur-level videographer who had no clue how to use the camera we owned. All of the footage was unusable (the gain was turned up) like Snow White in a snow storm. We regrouped, hired a full crew for the second attempt, and spent more time on planning and props. The basic concept is a group of musicians are each drawn to the desert by a mysterious light, almost like their calling as artists, to form a band and pursue their dreams. The song is one of the catchiest, best rock songs to me even 15 years later. The talent that exists in indie musicians is truly incredible, just proving how tough every creative industry is to “make it.” I am still proud of the music video and it was a lot of fun making in the middle of nowhere amidst a bunch of burned-out cars. Owing to my inexperience at the time, I never sent the video to any festivals and had no clue film festivals often take music videos.
